Where Your Treasure Is concludes
It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of
men. Christ is telling us that he has preserved you, he has kept you, he has revealed
his truth to you, and he has comforted you with his truth. He has a purpose for you by
making you the salt of the earth. In verse 14 he says; ye are the light of the world. A
city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine before men, that they may
see your good works, and glorify your Father, which is in heaven. If our treasures are
in Christ and in his Church, we are to set an example, and let our light shine before
men that God may have the glory and the honour.
There is nothing in this world that should come before Christ and his Church. Some-
times we think that making a living is more important than being at church on Sunday.
We get caught up in the ways of the world and think; well I have company that has
come in this weekend. It won’t hurt for me to miss today; it is just one Sunday out of
many. I have a family reunion coming up and I will only miss two Sundays this year
for that occasion. I am on vacation, I deserve my time off, I will only miss a couple of
Sundays this year for that. Then you begin to add up all the Sundays that you missed
church that year, you might be surprised just how many Sundays that is. Jesus said;
where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
In chapter 6:23 Christ said; Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you. If we could just put the Kingdom of God
first, that is Christ and his Church, the Lord will bless us with all the things that we
stand in need of from a natural standpoint. The Lord will bless us with jobs to provide
food and clothing for our families, and us and at the same time you will be giving
glory to God, by letting your light so shine among men. They will see your good
works, and be able to see your happiness in Christ the Lord. It will encourage those
outside the church that they might want to come and see what great things the Lord is
doing for you. When we lay up treasures on the earth, it is just for a season, but when
we lay up treasures in heaven it is from everlasting, it is forever, it will never have an
end, because this comes from him that is eternal. AMEN.
