Did God’s Promise Fail? Elder Robert Willis (dec)
Promise Land Prophecy
We are living in a day when those who deny the fulfillment of bibli-
cal prophecy are growing even more bolder. Premillennialist hold
on to the idea of a so-called coming millennium. They use Genesis
15:18 as proof that the biblical prophecy was never fulfilled as God
promised. Many of them believe that Israel has not yet possessed all
the territory which God promised to Abraham’s seed.
The bible is its best interpreter. Always has been and always will be: not the numer-
ous commentaries or writings of religious intellectuals. Genesis 15:18 says, “In the
same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given
this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:...” Lack of
study and lack of understanding has led many to have the misconception that God is
capable of failing at anything He would set His hand to do, or fail to keep a promise
(covenant) which He had ascribed to. We must remember this truth, “For I am the
Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6). We
see this premise expressed also in Isaiah 42:4, “He shall not fail nor be discouraged,
till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.”
When then was the prophecy of Genesis 15:18 fulfilled or has it yet to be fulfilled?
To find the answer we again must go to the book of truth in I Kings 4:21, “And Solo-
mon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and
unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of
his life.” The presents presented to Solomon from all these lands under his reign,
where known as tribute. Tribute was a payment made of those who considered them-
selves servants to Solomon and understood his authority over them.
Today, there are many who have fallen into the same trap of believing that Christ
(God) could fail, period! Even some ordained Christian ministers are preaching that
Jesus failed and must be helped in order to save His people from eternal torment.
There is nothing worse than advocating a weak Christ, that needs the help of man to
save His people eternally. Let us today, give God the glory He deserves by declaring
the love and power of Christ. God’s boundaries have never changed and will not
change. The boundaries of His people are declared in John 6:39, “And this is the
Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose
nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.”
