Points to Ponder - Elder Hulan Bass

Vital points are to be considered in this realm, As THEOLOGICAL points being wrongly expressed is understandable, but violating ETHICAL Standards is unforgivable, esp. if done intentionally.  Anytime a quotation is being publicized without recognizing and honouring the initial writer, esp. if they are of  known and honoured field of endeavour.  Quoting them is fine, but list their NAME as the initial author.  For example: If a quotation ref. a certain text is well- known, esp. in that particular field of specifics, and you love the quote, and you desire to publish that particular statement, be very sure to publish their name as the initial author.   For example, many such recognized writers on the Holy Scriptures have quoted Eph. 2:8—10, and each one usually placed a different “slant” on the teachings therein, but each writer, if quoting another, must NAME the other writer if there are even minor differences.

If this is violated it is called plagiarizing.

"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ."
(Acts 2:36)

Sometimes as we look at verses such as this one, we tend to look over certain words thinking we understand what is being said, without giving much thought of who and what is being said. In this verse the word (Israel) is being used. Sometimes this word is used to describe natural Israel, sometimes it is used to describe spiritual Israel, and sometimes it is used to describe both natural and spiritual Israel.

In Romans 9:6 Paul says; "Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel." Other words just because you are a natural Jew and born in Israel does not mean that you are a true Israelite. In Romans 2:28 Paul says; "For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."

What I am saying in putting this out is that both Jew, both Gentile, natural or spiritual is embraced in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It were our sins that nailed Christ to the cross and it was the love of God to us that kept him there.

 About right and wrong.

Son, there is no rule, that says you have to do something ; just because there is nothing wrong with doing it!

Son, when you say: “I am sorry, I didn't mean to do it;” you are looking for forgiveness. But when you say: “I don't know what I was thinking, and I shouldn't have done that.” You know you were wrong, and ought to be just about ready to beg for mercy.

Son, when you think about something , and what the result might be; and you decide not to do it: “ It sure feels good afterward to see you did the right thing, now don't it?"

Son, if you know what is the right thing to do; do that! If you know the truth to tell; tell that! Then just do the right things right, and what you do, endeavor to do it well!

Solomon writes the repeated history of the Adamic-Fallen-Nature World in Ecc. 1:10; 2:12; 3:15; 4:2; 6:10; So, the Natural Nature of God’s creation is still being repeated also.

First, Solomon – “That which hath been is now, and that which is to be, hath already been and God requireth that which is past.”

Now God says in Gen. 8:22 = “While the earth remaineth, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Yet, all of BOTH these “repetitions” will cease, as there will be ONLY ONE PERFECT day forever.

"The days of our years are threescore and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away." (Psalms 90:10)

I have heard over and over through the years that we should not be singing that song I'll Fy Away; the reason being that we will be carried to heaven. Yet David tells us that we will fly away in this verse. I think about Peter walking on water and how it was not in his own strength, but in the strength of our Lord. The same I think is this teaching, "we fly away.' I like to think and to meditate upon that great day of the Lord when Christ comes again.

We shall meet him in the air, we shall be gathered up and fly away and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
