If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14  (In my own words)

If my people, who are not strangers from my covenant;

Those which are called by my name “My people Israel;”

Shall humble themselves, as my repentant children,

And shall pray to me and seek my face, saith the Lord.

If they turn from their wicked ways,

by which they have erred and confess their sins.

I will hear from heaven, and forgiveness

will rain down from above. 1John1:9

Then will their land be blessed with green

pastures and still waters;

Then will they know the restoring of heart, mind and soul.

Then will they know the sweetness of dwelling in safety.

About the Spirit

• Endeavoring to do Christian labor without the Spirit is like leaving port in a boat without a compass.

• Intending to go by faith without leadership of the Spirit, is like mounting a spirited horse without a bridle.

• The Spirit knows where we are going when we don't; it always knows the truth when we forget; it helps our mouths say what's in our hearts, and also say it right.

Elder George Walker (dec)

"Marvel not that I said unto you, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit." (John 3:7-8)

In today's religious world, people like to think that they can go out and get themselves born again by making decisions, of choosing and believing, and by doing good works, or making a commitment, or some other work system under the law. The first place that they try to prove this in this third chapter of John by this statement, "Ye must be born again." We as Primitive Baptists have never denied that one must be born again. There will not be a person in heaven that has not been born again." But this text is teaching that this work is the work of God,  the work of the Holy Spirit that gives us spiritual life, that borns us again and makes us a new creature in Christ. This goes further in this verse and tells us that we do not know when it comes nor can we direct it in any way. This is God's work.
