The children of God who have
enjoyed great material abundance in this life will have no
advantage in heaven over those dear Saints who struggled
through this world in poverty and want. There will be no
high seat, and low seats, no starry crowns, Or preeminent
offices, no cabins in the corner, no front seats or back
seats, no Saints with authority over other Saints; but all
will be equal with one another. What heaven holds for one,
it will hold for all. All the the elect are heirs of God,
and joint-heirs with Christ. ( Rom. 8: 17). And, as joint
heirs: “What belongs to one, belongs to all, who are heirs
together of the grace of life. (1Peter 3:7).
Superior advantages on earth do not carry over into heaven,
and neither do disadvantages. Kings, priests, and Princess,
must all go to the grave the same as the pauper. The dying
monarch. who is not an heir of promise may wear costly
apparel, and be laid in a coffin bedecked with rare jewels,
and sealed in a vault lined with purest gold, but that will
not prevent his being raised at last, to shame and
everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2, And a poor, struggling
saint may have lived In poverty, die in obscurity, be
dressed in rags, and laid in a box made of rough hewn
lumber, But that will not prevent him from one day, rising
in glory and shining as the brightness of the firmament.
All the wealth in the world cannot buy health. Nor can it
prevent one's appointment with death. No station in life can
exempt one from the relentless March of time and its ravages
upon. Both mind and body. Rich and poor, high and low, great
and small, bond and free, learned and unlearned, white and
black, red and yellow shall all lie down alike in the dust,
and the worms shall cover them. Job 21:26. It should greatly
humble rich Saints to know that they will, in death, be
brought to the level of the poorest of men; And it should
greatly encourage poor Saints to know that in Christ they
are not the least mite behind the richest of men. In fact,
it is often the case here in this time world that poor
Saints enjoy much greater prosperity of soul than do the
rich Saints.
