Being a Good Neighbor |
|
Luke 10:29 |
This
question was asked by a certain lawyer, to the Lord, to
justify himself; because he had asked the Lord a question,
attempting to expose a lack of wisdom in Jesus. “What
shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
The Lord
showed him His wisdom, with two questions (In answering a
question with a question, He was using a technique on the
lawyer, which lawyers commonly use): “What is written in
the law? How readest thou?” So, the lawyer quickly
responded with the great commandment of the law: “Thou
shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all
thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind;
and thy neighbor as thyself.”
The Lord
commended him for his correct answer saying: “this
do, and thou shalt live" (Please notice, the Lord
did not say he would be born again, but would be walking
as a child of God). And the Lord told him the
parable of the good Samaritan, and taught him how being
a good neighbor is about who YOU are, and how you ought
to be one, in showing mercy unto others; what the Lord
is teaching: “Just be a child of God, being a good
neighbor.”
