What is faith? Faith is declared in Gal. 5:22 as
“The fruit of the Spirit.” Therefore anything we
have to say about faith, must not violate the source
and foundation of it's existence. So, anywhere we
find spiritual faith at work, we find the Spirit of
God at work also.
There are many good passages of Scripture by which
to try the meaning of faith (Heb. Ch 11, Matt. 1:18
– 25, Gen. 6: 13 – 22, Gen. Chs 12 & 22), and so
many other examples where children of God, were
moved and/or instructed by the Spirit, as they were
tried in the faith they were given at the new birth,
or when they were tried in the Spirit by God.
There are some accounts where many believe, that
regeneration and faith were exceedingly close or in
conjunction with each other; such as the thief on
the cross in Luke 23:39 – 43, and Saul (later Paul),
in Acts9:1 – 9. However, when these two were born of
the Spirit of God, it was from that birth, the gift
of faith proceeded. So then, we must conclude, that
all things concerning the gifts and calling of God,
must be to one born of the Spirit of God; and that
such birth always precedes the actions of the flesh;
and that only a born again child of God can manifest
true spiritual faith in the things of God or the
acts of His Divine Person.
Faith at work, is evidence and proof of two things,
there is hope of eternity, and a belief that God IS. |
