Doctrine of Election |

I would like
to talk concerning the doctrine of election. We as Primitive
Baptist have loved it, and heard it preached time and time
again, and it never grows old to us.
It teaches that God is a God of love, mercy, and grace. It
teaches that God has all power, and that he is sovereign,
that is, God not only has all power, but also has the right
to exercise the power and the authority that he has.
We do not have the right to question what God does, or does
not do, because he is sovereign, he is King; he is the
creator of all things.
In Romans 8:33, it says, who can lay anything to the charge
of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Verse 34; who
is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yes rather,
that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God,
who also maketh intercession for us.
The word elect as defined from Strongs Exhaustive
concordance, and Greek Lexicon says it means to select, to
choose out, or to make a choice. The context in Romans
8:33 says it is elect, God's selection, or it is God that
chose you out, or made choice of you. I cannot think of
anything that describes the Love of God any greater than
election. To think of a love that great, sometimes is more
than I can conceive in my mind.
We may question in our own self that God would choose out a
people, and place them in his Son, preserve them and keep
them there until the day of Jesus Christ and his Holy angels
will come again to earth and redeem our bodies to take us
home to live with him for evermore. Oh! What grace it is to
see and believe this great truth. |
