Specially of Those
That Believe |

“For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach,
because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of
all men, specially of those that believe.” (1st Timothy
4:10)
As we
take a look at this verse of scripture we are able to see
that Jesus is the Saviour of all men, yet there are those
that believe, that Paul puts a difference between. The all
men that are saved in this verse, embraces the whole elect
family of God. We have many verses of scripture of this
nature. Each and every time we see all men, all things, the
whole world we have to stop and take a good look at who is
the all men, what are the all things, and who is the whole
world under consideration.
We find
in Romans 8:28 these words, “And we know that all things
work together for good to them that love God, to them who
are the called according to his purpose.” We can see in
this verse the all things are the things that work together.
The all things that work together for our good is the all
things considered in the context. We also find scripture
where the Apostle Paul says; “And the whole world
worshipped the goddess Diana.” If this is referring to
the whole world as we know it, then I want to ask a
question. Have you worshipped the goddess Diana? This is
speaking of the whole world that worshipped her.
Now as
we look at the thought, “who is the Saviour of all men!” If
Paul is referring to all men without exception then every
man, woman, and child will be saved and no one lost. Then we
would have universal salvation, all would be going to heaven
and none going to the lake of fire that is reserved for the
wicked. So we understand now that this is not the case. If
Jesus is our Saviour it will be on the premise that he is
the one that saved us, not tried to save us. “And she
shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus:
for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew
1:21) Here we have the answer that God is the Saviour of all
men.
Now we go to the rest of the verse. “Specially of those that
believe.” We have covered that Jesus is the Saviour of all
men without exception. Now we go to the believer. This is
telling us that not only will all the elect be saved rather
they believe or not, but puts great strength in specially of
those that believe. So what is the difference in the all men
being saved and the believer being saved. You see the point
in the message is that there are some that will be saved and
not have a knowledge of that salvation, then those that
believe, specially of those that believe will be delivered
in a timely way. There are special blessings that come to
the believer as he lives here in this time world. We are
saved day by day as we trust in his grace, we are saved from
error, we are saved from false teaching, we are saved
knowing that we have a Saviour that walks with us, talks
with us, reveals his truth to us giving us a peace that
passes all understanding. It tells us of that great
resurrection morning when all men in this context will be
raised together in his likeness. “We trust in the living
God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that
believe.”
